Associate Category Manager, Nordics, Baltics & UK

The Category Management & Sourcing team is a core part of the Mediq value chain with responsibility for ensuring a competitive and differentiated product portfolio via establishment and maintenance of supplier partnerships. Further, the team has the responsibility for ensuring competitiveness via ongoing supplier collaboration and negotiations. Working across all parts of the Mediq organization the team is the natural focal point for the transformation journey Mediq is on from a distributor to a value adding service provider.

Category Manager at Mediq:

As Associate Category Manager in Category Management & Sourcing, Nordics & Baltics you will be responsible for supporting the strategic direction of your category securing a competitive assortment for selected customer segments across Nordic & Baltics and in collaboration with the Category Manager, develop and implement sourcing projects across all business areas and business units. You will be a central part of the largest pan-Nordic category Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Nursing & Facility and be involved in supplier identification over negotiation to supplier management. Reporting to the Category Manager, Nordics & Baltics cluster and be part of a team of currently 17 people in the Category Management & Sourcing team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and implement sourcing projects to ensure a world-class product portfolio across all business areas and business units
  • Deliver continuous competitiveness for Mediq via ongoing supplier management and negotiations
  • Actively seek savings and optimization opportunities in direct and in-direct spend
  • Develop and maintain formalized supplier relationship management and performance programs
  • Lead supplier meetings and quarterly business reviews as required – supported by the Category Manager
  • Work with Sales, Product Management and tender team in order to ensure aligned supplier priorities and competitive terms
  • Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, internally as well as externally
  • Monitor global market trends, identify opportunities and potential issues

To be successful in the role, you will typically have most of these qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in sourcing or category management, preferably in healthcare or medical device industry
  • Educational background with min. a bachelor’s degree
  • Results driven with a natural high level of commercial thinking
  • Solid analytical skills and a high intellectual level
  • Fluency in English and minimum one of the Nordic languages
  • Team orientation and strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial, agile and the ability to adapt and respond to change
  • Well-structured with a good overview and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Negotiation experience would be an advantage
  • Can do mindset, change agent, front runner
  • Sense of urgency and deadline-oriented
  • Flexibility; travelling activities (estimated 20-30 days per year) are expected within this role, mainly within Nordic countries
